Express Entry

Express Entry is an online system that Federal Government of Canada uses to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Job categories under NOC Level O, A, B qualify for Express Entry. It is a fast track program to get Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada.

There are three categories in Express Entry:

• Federal Skilled Worker

• Federal Skilled Trades

• Canadian Experience Class

Candidates would submit a profile to express entry pool using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The top ranked candidates are invited to then apply for Permanent Residence.

There are two types of authorizations required for a visit to Canada:

​

Temporary Resident Visa (TRV): Everyone - except visitors from visa-exempt countries - who enters Canada on a temporary basis must apply for and receive a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), also known as a Visitor or Tourist Visa.

Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA): Required for applicants from visa-exempt countries. There are exemptions: i.e. citizens of USA, transit visa holders from certain countries.

Family Class Sponsorship programs include:

​

• Spousal and Family Sponsorship – allows Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner to become permanent residents.

​

• Dependent Child Sponsorship – allows Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor dependent (both natural and adopted) children to become permanent residents.

​

• Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship – allows Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their parents/grandparents to become permanent residents.

​

• Super Visa – allows parents/grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to come to Canada for up to 5 years.

​

• Provincial Nominee Programs – Some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) offer Family Sponsorship programs that may be easier to qualify for than the Federal Family Class category of immigration.
